No Place Like Tour | Concert Review
Mar. 9th, 2025 at THE FILLMORE CHARLOTTE

On Sunday, March 9th my two roommates and I made the trek from Daniely to Charlotte, NC to go watch a diva sing and dance. We went to see Role Model at The Fillmore Charlotte. The drive was about two hours in length, and we left campus at around 3pm and got there at 5pm.
We ordered the tickets spontaneously over J-term, resale on TicketMaster. After fees they were about $115 a piece. I had also booked VIP parking at the venue for $30, which was a great decision because there weren’t many options for parking at the venue.
Once we got to the venue we waited in the parking lot until the line got a little too long for our taste and hopped in the General Admission line at 6pm. The doors opened at 7, the opener went on at 8, Tucker on at 9. The line moved quickly once the doors opened and the venue was standing room only. Capacity was 2000 guests and it felt packed. It was a sold out show according to The Fillmore’s instagram. There were 3 tiers of standing room and we stood at the front of the third, having a direct view of the stage.

The merchandise line moved quickly, and I was tasked with getting the items. Coincidentally, the two girls in front of me were also from Elon! (I was so surprised to find a fellow Phoenix that I forgot to ask their names). All the merchandise was still available, it was sizes that were limited. I got the red tote bag for $30, the beige concert tee for $45, and a poster for $20.
The opener was Debbii Dawson, a contestant on America’s Got Talent and singer-songwriter from Minnesota. Her voice sounded like an angelic blend of Stevie Nicks, Chappell Roan, and Dolly Parton. Her setlist included:
Chemical Reaction
I Want You
Mars
Solitude
Great Magician
Eulogy For Nobody
Even Heaven Cries
U Killed The Music
Gut Feelings
Happy World
Role Model came on stage at 9:15pm, kicking off the show with Writings On The Wall
After his intro, he addressed the crowd, mentioning his cold and making a promise with the audience that if he missed a note, they would delete the video. (I made no such promise and he missed no notes). He also addressed the Brandy Melville rumors circulating the internet, proving them false. He also asked the Charlotte crowd how they felt about People Magazine (lots of booing ensued), and invited the showgoers to squash the 6ft tall rumors themselves by using measuring apps on their phones. On a more serious note, during the acoustic part of Compromise, he thanked the crowd for going out to support him, acknowledging how much love and effort goes into travel, buying tickets, making outfits, listening to music, missing events, all to watch someone sing for an hour. He truly loves his fans. (And we love him).
His setlist included:
Writing’s On The Wall
Look At That Woman
Scumbag
Oh Gemini
Superglue
The Dinner
Frances
Slut Era Interlude
Somebody Else (Cover- The 1975)
The Longest Goodbye
Old Recliners
Slipfast
That’s Just How It Goes
Some Protector
Compromise
Blind
Sally When The Wine Runs Out
Deeply Still In Love
During this tour, he’s brought out a fan during Sally When The Wine Runs Out to dance with him on stage. Our Sally was a girl who runs a fan update account, and her energy was infectious.
The drive home was filled with singing and laughter and disbelief that everything went so smoothly.
Writing this, I am proudly wearing my concert tee and trying to see if I can buy more tickets to see him again.
Until next time, Tucker!
